Inland Northwest Science Bowl

Since 2012, Whitworth has hosted one of the regional competitions for the National Science Bowl, a science outreach program for high school and middle school students sponsored by the Department of Energy. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl® is a nationwide academic competition that tests students' knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Middle and high school student teams from diverse backgrounds are comprised of four students, one alternate, and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, earth and space science, physics, energy and math. Our teams come from Eastern Washington, North Idaho and Western Montana.

Inland Northwest Science Bowl Regional Competition 2025

This year's competition for high school students will be held on March 1, 2025. Please register your team(s) at the National Science Bowl website.

The registration fees for this year will be $40 per team. Registration fees can be paid here.

We need volunteers to help us run a successful competition! There are many volunteer positions that do not require a science or math background. Volunteer training and practice will be hosted in the weeks leading up to the event. Additional information and a link for volunteers to sign up is available at serve.whitworth.edu/sciencebowl.
