Associated Students of Whitworth University (ASWU)
ASWU comprises 28 students, a combination of both hired and elected leadership positions. Below is a summary of the positions offered through the organization.
Coordinators: These are positions hired by student activities who assist primarily in the programming side of ASWU. Coordinators are responsible for programming in specialized areas such as campus activities, club, cultural events, senior class, spiritual life, sustainability and traditional events.
Representatives: These are elected positions that serve a term of one academic year and are elected at the beginning of the academic year for which they serve. Representatives serve as advocates for specific groups of students, including incoming students and the off-campus population.
Senators: These are elected positions for each residence hall. Senators live in the residence hall they represent, are a voice for their constituents and perform one event per semester. They are also part of the residence hall leadership team. The term consists of one academic year.
Executives/Executive Team: The executive positions include president, vice president, financial director and communications director. These four student leaders comprise the executive team and work collaboratively to oversee the operations of ASWU. All the positions are elected except the communications director.

Building Unity & Cultivating Success (BUCS Bridge) Peer Guides
BUCS Bridge peer guides provide integral leadership and support in enhancing inclusion and equity for the Whitworth University campus with a particular focus on students from historically underrepresented populations (BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and first-generation) in their first year at Whitworth University through mentoring, programming and event facilitation that cultivates identity development, community building and college navigation skills.
BUCS Bridge peer guides co-facilitate the implementation of the BUCS Bridge pre-orientation, provide individual and group mentoring to first-year students, and alongside professional staff, provide equity and inclusion programming throughout the school year to the larger Whitworth community.

Campus Ministry Coordinators (CMCs)
Campus ministry coordinators are live-in student leaders placed in the residence halls to specifically shepherd the spiritual life of that community. CMCs do this in a variety of different ways including actively pursuing their own life in Christ, leading small groups/Bible studies, engaging in one-on-one conversations with residents, organizing large hall events such as worship nights, prayer times and PrimeTimes, and connecting residents to campus ministry events. They also work to support the general well-being of the residents in the hall, alongside other student leaders and staff.

Career Peer Coaches (CPCs)
Career peer coaches are enthusiastic student leaders who recognize the value of and want to support their peers with the career development process.
CPCs provide individualized support to undergraduate students across disciplines and class levels through one-on-one coaching and group presentations. They are extensively trained to assist with: developing résumés and cover letters, job/internship searches, job fairs, accessing online job search resources, networking skills, etc.

Community Engagement Advocates (CEAs)
Community engagement advocates work to establish and/or support community development programs in the West Central neighborhood and throughout Spokane through collaboration with various community partners and by creating service opportunities for Whitworth students. Responsibilities include participating in ongoing leadership training through the year; identifying, coordinating and hosting Whitworth Serves opportunities; supporting Dornsife Center annual events such as Community Building Day, poverty simulations and service fairs; and coordinating a service experience for students during at least one university break.

Cultural-Diversity Advocates (CDAs)
Cultural-diversity advocates provide integral leadership and support in enhancing inclusion and equity for the Whitworth University campus with a particular focus on guiding international students. Through peer mentoring, dialogue facilitation and coordination of monthly cultural programs, CDAs serve a unique role in bridging and connecting community members across viewpoints, cultures and backgrounds.
CDAs co-facilitate the implementation of the international student pre-orientation program, provide individual and group mentoring to international students, and alongside professional staff, provide equity and inclusion programming throughout the school year to the larger Whitworth community.

The Health Education Action Team (HEAT)
The HEAT is a group of student leaders and peer educators who host events and programs for Whitworth students on a variety of health-related topics. The HEAT provides information and resources to students so they are empowered to take charge of their own health and well-being. The responsibilities include becoming a certified peer educator; designing, coordinating and delivering health and well-being education programs; and serving as a role model by demonstrating health and well-being behaviors to others.

Resident Assistants (RAs)
Residence life provides an opportunity for students, staff and faculty to explore what it means to be a part of a community united in Christ and called to care for each other in cooperative ways. Resident assistants are live-in student leaders who aid residents in creating a sense of community within living areas through the programs they offer; they are co-educators who assist students in developing a sense of responsibility for their actions and for their contributions to the community. RAs serve as role models and assist in the administration of the residence halls to which they are assigned.

Success Coaches
Success coaches provide ongoing, one-on-one support to undergraduate students at Whitworth. Success coaches help their assigned students identify goals, connect to resources and practice success strategies. In addition to one-on-one meetings with assigned students, success coaches participate in the success coach team and work closely with the assistant director of student success and the director of student success to support students. They are responsible for careful documentation of their meetings with students and various administrative tasks. Applicants will need the following skills: listening, inclusivity, patience, empathy, responsibility, adaptability, love of learning and being a self-starter.
