Biography
Bill Robinson is president emeritus of Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. He served as Whitworth's 17th president, from 1993 to 2010, after serving as president of Manchester University, in Indiana, from 1986 to 1993.
Currently, Bill's work-life consists of speaking, consulting and writing. Recently, he served on the boards of the Stewardship Foundation, the Voya Educators Advisory Board, and Princeton Theological Seminary, where he was board chair from 2013 to 2017. In 2010, a second edition of Robinson's book Leading People from the Middle: The Universal Mission of Mind and Heart was released. In February 2009, Incarnate Leadership was published by Zondervan (Harper Collins).
Bill is married to Bonnie Robinson, principal organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Spokane. They have three children and seven grandchildren. Daughter Brenna, Whitworth Class of 2000, is a Presbyterian minister at the First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell, Montana. She is married to Alan Stanfield, '97, vice principal at Glacier High School in Kalispell. Son Ben, '03, is a Presbyterian minister working at Medical Teams International in Portland, Oregon. Both he and Brenna received Masters of Divinity degrees from Princeton Seminary. Daughter Bailley (who boldly broke her siblings’ educational pattern by doing degrees at Pepperdine and Washington University in St. Louis) runs a community-outreach program at Gonzaga University. She was married to the late Mike Wootton, ’04, who coached and taught photography at St. George’s School in Spokane.
