Ways to Give

There are many ways to invest in Whitworth, so you can choose a giving option that suits you best.

You might make an outright gift, which can be put to work immediately, or set up a planned or deferred gift, which matures to benefit the university at a later date. You may even be able to multiply your support through employer gift matching programs.

Make a Gift By...

  • Become a Sustaining Donor

By giving an amount that fits comfortably in your monthly budget, you will provide ongoing support that allows Whitworth to deliver reliable, lasting impact to students. Plus, a sustaining gift is the most convenient and efficient way to give. Automatic monthly donations save you time and hassle and save us mailing and administrative costs.

    Signing up is easy.

    1. Give via electronic funds transfer from your checking account
    2. Set up a monthly, quarterly, twice a year, or yearly gift via credit card

You can increase, decrease or stop your donation at any time by contacting us at 800.532.4668 or giving@whitworth.edu. Your ongoing gift will make a big difference for students.

  • Donate Securities

    How it Works:

    • You transfer appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares you have owned for more than one year to Whitworth University.
    • Whitworth sells your securities and uses the proceeds for its programs.

    Benefits:

    • You receive an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of transfer, no matter what you originally paid for them.
    • You pay no capital gains tax on the transfer when the stock is sold.
    • Giving appreciated stock could be more beneficial than giving cash.

Marketable securities held in a donor’s brokerage or trust account may be transferred to Whitworth University using the following stock transfer process:

    • Let us know that you are making a gift of securities by completing the intent to donate securities form at connect.whitworth.edu/give-stock.

    • After you complete the form, you will receive a confirmation email with the information you provided and the delivery instructions for the transaction. Please forward or fax this information to your broker. The transaction is not complete until the broker initiates it.

Contact the office of institutional advancement by calling 800.532.4668 or 509.777.4268 if you have any questions.

  • Match Your Gift

You can double, or even triple, your gift to Whitworth through your place of work. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable donation made by their employees. Whitworth will recognize you for the full amount of your own gift plus the resulting corporate match.

If your employer is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer and send it completed with your gift to Whitworth. We do the rest.

Go to our Matching Gift Information to see if your employer has a matching gift policy. Even past gifts, and gifts from retirees and spouses, are sometimes eligible for a match.

Completed forms can be sent, along with your gift, to:

    Office of Institutional Advancement
    Whitworth University
    300 W Hawthorne Road
    Spokane, WA 99251
