Spiritual Enrichment
We invite you to participate in these activities throughout the week. Our hope is to enable faculty and staff to fully experience faith and community while working at Whitworth.
Community Worship
This twice-weekly Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. chapel service, allows the Whitworth community to gather together in an expression of our commitment to honor God, follow Christ and serve humanity. Each worship service is led by the campus ministry staff and student leaders as we draw upon all that has been given to us: the Bible, the two millennia of church tradition, the best of contemporary music, the spirituality of written prayers, the sharing of communion together, the power of liturgical symbols and dance, the joy of global music, and the witness of the worldwide Christian community.
Morning Prayer
A service of morning prayer invites us to join Christians around the world as we lift up our hearts to the Lord Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during, the academic year, from 8:30 a.m.-8:50 a.m. in the Lantern, an upstairs room in the music building, for all faculty, staff and students. Morning Prayer is an opportunity to start the day with scripture, silence, prayer and song. Director of Campus Worship Ben Brody will be leading the simple service based on the Book of Common Prayer. All are welcome to join this service of worship.
On Bended Knee
On Bended Knee is an online prayer guide for the Whitworth University community, written by Storm Family Dean of Spiritual Life and Campus Pastor Forrest Buckner. It features weekly posts with scripture passages, timely prayer requests for Whitworth people and programs, and thanksgiving for God's rich blessings on the university. Each week's posting also includes the scripture passage which will be the focal point for our Tuesday campus chapel service.
