Sexual Harassment Prevention Info & Resources
It is the commitment of this community that no one's behavior should violate another person, nor should it compromise basic needs for security, safety, and peace of mind. In keeping with this commitment, sexual harassment, like other forms of destructive behavior, will not be tolerated.
Definition of Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favor, or conduct of a sexual nature when:
- submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of employment or obtaining an education; or
- submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as a factor affecting that individual's employment or education; or
- such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual's employment or education, or of creating what a reasonable person would sense as an intimidating, demoralizing, threatening or hostile employment, living, or educational environment.
If you feel you have been the victim of another person's (student, faculty, or staff) harassing behavior, including sexual harassment, please...
- Contact a support person.
- Contact a member of the staff at Whitworth. This person may be a student leader, RD, counselor, professor, student life staff person, academic administrator, or human resources staff member. That person can talk with you about options for informal resolution or a formal grievance. In any case, we are committed to ending destructive behavior and to providing support for anyone who has been the subject of harassment.
