International First-Year Student Scholarships

2025-26 Academic Scholarships: Up to $34,000 per year

Whitworth offers generous academic scholarships to incoming first-year students. There is no scholarship application. Instead, these scholarships are offered to students based on the following criteria:

Students from non-English-speaking countries

  • High school weighted GPA and the standardized test score submitted for admission (e.g., SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, etc.)*
  • A-Levels or IB exam scores (applicable to students from a Cambridge or IB curriculum high school)

Students from approved English-speaking countries

  • High school transcript and weighted GPA (for Canadian and U.S. applicants)
  • High school transcript and national exam (for Australian and New Zealand applicants)
  • A-Levels or IB exam scores (applicable to students from a Cambridge or IB curriculum high school)

Approved English-speaking countries list

  • Antigua, Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Federated States of Micronesia, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, New Zealand, Seychelles, South Africa, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom and U.S. Virgin Islands

*Students who submit more than one of the above exams will be offered scholarships based on the highest exam grades they have submitted. For students submitting more than one SAT/ACT exam, we will use the superscore – the highest combination of subscores from each test.

Scholarship Amounts & Criteria

These scholarships are offered automatically at the point of admission and can be renewed up to four years for students making satisfactory academic progress. Students who submit updated transcripts or test scores by April 1 will be considered for scholarship upgrades. Students who are homeschooled or who choose on their admission application to request an interview instead of submitting test scores should contact their admissions counselor regarding their academic scholarship offer.

Campus Housing Grants: $3,000 per year

Offered to 2025-26 incoming students who will be living on campus. The housing grant can only be used toward tuition costs.

Visit Scholarship: $1,000 (one-time)

Offered to students who attend two qualifying virtual visit events or one qualifying in-person visit event. For fall 2025, the deadline for qualifying event attendance is June 1, 2025. 

CSS Profile

We highly encourage all international students, upon admission to Whitworth, to complete the CSS profile to be considered for possible future financial-aid opportunities. This only needs to be submitted once. Whitworth does not provide waivers.

Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time. Service hours are extended October through February to 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Eastern time, and are subject to change.

Please note: Whitworth does not offer scholarships or other financial aid that covers the full cost of attendance.  Whitworth does not offer loans. 

If we receive your CSS Profile application by Nov. 15, you will receive a financial aid offer as early as mid-February. CSS Profiles received after Nov. 15 will be processed on a rolling basis.

Other Sources of Support

Whitworth EducationUSA Scholarship

To encourage students to take advantage of the resources EducationUSA offers to prepare students for study in the United States, Whitworth University is offering a $1,000 scholarship to any student who is registered at an EducationUSA center around the world and is admitted to Whitworth and enrolls. This scholarship would be in addition to any academic scholarship and/or need-based institutional grants (amounts vary) for which the student qualifies and is renewable.

On-Campus Student Employment

Although not guaranteed for every student, on-campus part-time job opportunities are also available to international students with F-1 and J-1 visas. A student working just 10 hours a week, for example, could earn about $4,200 in a nine-month academic year.
