Residency Timeline

Orientation

Sept. 1 

Residency application opens.

Nov. 27

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m.

Dec. 2-6

Applicants will interview with the Formed in Faith team.

Dec. 6 

Applicants will be notified of acceptance status.

Dec. 11, 9:30-11 a.m.

Zoom: Info/orientation meeting for accepted residents.

Jan. 13 & 14, 8:30 a.m.-noon

Kickoff retreat and residency begins. The senior leader/head of staff from each church should attend on Jan. 13, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Phase 1: Equipping parents/caregivers to experience God alongside their young children

Note: Specific dates for Phase 1 events will be published after residents are selected in order to attend to residents' availability as much as possible. Resident applicants can list their availability in the application.

Dates/content subject to change.

Ongoing activities throughout phase 1:

  • Coaching sessions (coaching windows: March-April, June-July) 
  • Discussion board/online hub engagement 
  • Opportunity to request to fund projects and access to consultants 
  • Evaluation 

January 2025

Residents will be asked to announce their participation in this project at their church. Churches will also begin planning and hosting parent listening sessions (to take place in January-April).

February

Training Session: The State of Christian Parenting. (Senior leadership should attend this session.)

Residents will begin to experiment with parent engagement.

February-March

Training Module – Leading Parent Circles: Experiencing God Alongside Our Children (six weeks, one evening per week) 

April

Attend Formed in Faith community event (topic and facilitator TBA). 

May

Training Session: Workshop and debrief parent engagement experiment

June-July

Personalized coaching will be available to residents, with options to continue processing parent engagement experiments.

Sacred storytelling and ignatian imagination circles will be offered periodically.

Residents are invited to attend the InterGenerate Conference on June 10-12 (costs covered by OCE).

Phase 2: Equipping the church to experience God alongside parents & young children

Ongoing activity throughout phase 2: 

  • Coaching sessions (coaching windows: January-March, May-June) 
  • Discussion board/online hub engagement 
  • Opportunity to request to fund projects and access to consultants 
  • Evaluation  
  • Optional conference/ministry immersion field trip 

August-September

Churches are asked to announce phase 2 activity in their congregations and engage in a church-wide appreciative inquiry activity. Congregational surveys will also be shared.

Residents will meet with the Formed in Faith team to review data from Phase 1.

October

Phase 2 Retreat (two half-days. Senior leaders will be asked to attend one half-day.)

Residents will attend the Formed in Faith community event (topic and facilitator TBA).

November

Training Session: Sunday Morning Worship (Senior leaders should attend this session.)

January 2026

Attend Formed in Faith community event (worship ministry leaders are invited to attend as well).

February

Training Session: Exploring Scripture

Senior leaders are invited to attend an exclusive event: Preaching to All Ages.

March

Training Session: Children's Ministry Time (All children's ministry leaders and volunteers in your church are invited to attend.)

April

Training Session: Transforming a Church Culture (Senior leaders should attend.)

Residents will meet with the Formed in Faith team to review data from Phase 2 so far.

May

Training Session: Community Life (Other leaders or volunteers from each church are invited to attend.)

June

Training Session: Service & Community Engagement (Other leaders or volunteers from each church are invited to attend.)

Wrap Up

Ongoing activities in this phase: Coaching for sustaining change (coaching window: August-October)

July-August 2026

Residents will continue to experiment in their churches.

September

Final congregational surveys and interviews will take place.

October

Final celebration & story sharing (senior leaders are invited to attend).

Residents will also find ways to share stories of the cohort experience in their churches.

Post-Project

Residents will receive a summary of evaluation data with recommendations for continuing this work and debrief summary with coaches and Formed in Faith leadership team.
