Hometown: Olympia, Wash. & Spokane, Wash.

University: Whitworth University

Favorite Quote: From Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural address, "With malice toward none with charity for all with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right let us strive on to finish the work we are in to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan – to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations." 

Favorite College Courses: Matthew’s Gospel, Genetics, Core 250 and my study abroad trip to Costa Rica in Jan Term.

Favorite Spokane Activity: Hoopfest (the world's largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament), boating and skiing with my family. 

Favorite Spokane Restaurant: Chick-Fil-A, Rancho Chico, Hula Hut, Selkirk Pizza and all the sushi restaurants

Favorite Thing About Whitworth: Beautiful campus, genuinely kind professors that care about the individuals on our campus and it’s a wonderful Christian community.

Advice for Whitworth Applicants: Visit campus as soon as you can but be sure to visit campus during your senior year. Apply for outside scholarships early. Reach out to your admissions counselor when you have need for additional information; we are here to help.

Free-for-All: 

  • I love my job because it’s such a privilege to help young people navigate their college decision. 
  • My family is a priority and I find great joy in watching my children participate is things they love. 
  • My best days are started early with exercise and a devotion followed by a bit of craziness as my family prepares for their day. Then a full day of assisting students with their admissions applications, meeting new people during their visit to campus and a couple Zoom meetings with families to help them navigate their financial aid. Followed by zipping over to watch one of my children compete in some kind of local school activity. Ending the day with an evening walk with my wife while observing one of Spokane’s beautiful sunsets.
