Favorite Quote: "Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself." – C.S. Lewis
Favorite College Courses: Gospel of John; Peace Studies; Environmental Science; Core 250; all of my Spanish literature courses
Favorite Spokane Activity: Hiking, picking fruit at Green Bluff, walking on the Centennial Trail, hanging out at Riverfront Park
Favorite Spokane Restaurant: The Flying Goat
Favorite Thing about Whitworth: Community! I appreciate how students, professors, coaches, faculty and staff effortlessly engage in conversations and activities. *Bonus: The campus is beautiful, and everything is super accessible.
Advice for Whitworth Applicants: Be open and yet intentional in the college search. Set weekly goals to stay on top of the process and spend time researching and asking questions. Ask people you respect – teachers, coaches, youth leaders, family and friends – how they approached the process and what wisdom they can share.
Free-for-All: A good day for me includes... coffee, chocolate, family, laughter, reading, time outside, some chips with guacamole and salsa, and whatever my husband makes for dinner. I loved the "organized chaos" of raising a family of four kids. I enjoy reading most all genres, including Spanish literature. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to travel, whether somewhere new in your town or across the world, as you will find beauty and awe in the people you meet and the creation you encounter. Everyone has a story to tell, and I love hearing those stories.
