Selection Process & Timeline

Selection process and timeline for students enrolling at Whitworth in fall 2025:

Dec. 1 The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) become available.  
Jan. 15  Submit Whitworth admissions application by Jan. 15 Early Action II deadline and submit FAFSA or WASFA to Whitworth. 
Jan. 31 Complete the Multicultural Leadership Program (MLP) application.

Applicants from Spokane, Tacoma, Tri-Cities and Yakima and the surrounding areas who qualify for the Washington State College Bound Scholarship will receive a link with instructions for completing this application. College Bound eligibility is required to participate in MLP, so all applicants are encouraged to submit their FAFSA to Whitworth as soon as possible to expedite this process. 
Mid-February MLP semifinalists chosen and notified.

A group of semifinalists will be chosen from the applicants and invited to an MLP finalist selection event, during which they will complete an interview, a faculty discussion, group dynamics session and a writing exercise as the final stage of the selection process.

March 16-17

Mentorship Visit Program (MVP)

MLP finalists will learn about the academic and student life programs offered at Whitworth by participating in the Mentorship Visit Program. They will connect with our community through mentor groups led by student leaders, stay overnight on campus with current students, and meet university faculty and staff who support students inside and outside the classroom. 

June-August MLP scholars participate in pre-college training and cohort building.
Late August  MLP scholars participate in Whitworth's BUCS Bridge program.
Early September Fall classes start.
