Resources for Scholarship

Summer Opportunities
Early in the spring semester the office of academic affairs announces the internal grant, fellowship, and workshop opportunities that will be offered to faculty during the summer break. The announcement includes descriptions, dates, deadlines, and other application instructions.

Writing Support
Academic affairs and the individual schools and colleges offer writing support for faculty, including the Reid Writing Retreat, a one week writing-in-residence program offered each June (included in the Summer Opportunities announcement). The associate provost also provides monetary support for grassroots writing groups that emerge across campus. The Whitworth Library and the Composition Commons are also happy to support faculty in their research and writing efforts.

Faculty Scholarship Forum
The Faculty Scholarship Forum provides a venue for faculty to present their scholarly work to their peers and receive feedback and acknowledgement. Any member of the faculty can request an opportunity to present at a Faculty Scholarship Forum. Forums take place during the lunch hour in the dining hall; lunch is provided.

Sponsored Programs
The office of sponsored programs assists faculty with proposals and budget oversight for external grants. Faculty interested in applying for a grant or other funding opportunity should first access the resources on the sponsored programs webpage.

Internal Funding Opportunities
There are several grants and fellowships available to support faculty research. This document summarizes the award amount, eligibility criteria, and submission process.

Faculty Scholarship Booklet
This yearly publication highlights the impressive breadth and depth of our faculty's scholarly and artistic accomplishments. Published in both print and digital formats.
