Annual Faculty Welcome Back Newsletter
In early August we post a series of letters from the Provost, Associate Provost, Faculty President and others, providing faculty with information about the coming academic year and the opening events they can expect as we welcome a new cohort of colleagues and students.
Faculty Research and Development Submission Dates
Our Faculty Research and Development Committee oversees the application, nomination, and recommendation process for sabbaticals, mini-sabbaticals, and several awards. This document provides and overview of the timeline for submission and selection.
Sabbaticals and Mini-Sabbaticals
Sabbaticals and mini-sabbaticals provide release time for faculty to work on scholarly projects and invest in their own learning. Full term sabbaticals cover either the spring or fall term plus Jan Term, without disruption to salary. Year long sabbaticals are available for half pay. Mini-sabbaticals provide course release for Jan Term or 3-credits in a long term. Applications reviewed by the Faculty Research and Development Committee, with final approval granted by the provost. For eligibility and timing details, please see of the Faculty Handbook.
Travel Funds
To support faculty in presenting their scholarly work and connecting with their professional disciplinary guilds, we fund travel requests (including conference fees) for up to $1500. Priority is given to pre-tenure faculty, but all regular faculty are eligible to apply.
