Community Ensembles
Whitworth Community Concert Band
The Whitworth Community Concert Band is an adult, non-auditioned, open-enrollment instrumental ensemble specifically for community wind, brass and percussion players college-aged and above, as well as Whitworth students, faculty and staff. The Community Band performs a mix of traditional and contemporary music (concert works, marches, medleys, etc.) for concert band, and rehearses Monday evenings during the Whitworth University academic calendar from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The ensemble presents two concerts each year, one per semester.
Whitworth students may enroll in the ensemble for one academic credit (MU 267/467). Community members may participate for a nominal introductory fee of $75 each semester. Current Whitworth University faculty and staff may participate with fees waived, and former faculty and staff may participate at a discount.
Whitworth Community Chorale
The Whitworth Community Chorale is a non-auditioned, open-enrollment choral ensemble specifically for community singers of all ages and experience levels as well as Whitworth students, faculty, and staff. Dedicated to the performance of large-scale choral masterworks in addition to secular and sacred choral works, the Whitworth Community Chorale rehearses Monday evenings during the Whitworth University academic calendar from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The ensemble presents two large-scale concerts per academic year (one performance each semester).
Whitworth students may enroll in the ensemble for one academic credit (MU 279/479). Community members may participate for a nominal fee of $100 each semester. Current Whitworth University faculty and staff may participate with fees waived, and former faculty and staff may participate at a discount.
