Carlson Commemoration: Fall 2024-Fall 2025

Paul Carlson and Helen Carlson invite the Whitworth and greater Spokane communities to join them in commemorating the 75th graduation anniversaries from Whitworth University of their parents, Gordon and Dorothy Carlson. Their parents' love of art and generosity to Whitworth has inspired them to use this opportunity to commemorate the legacy of their parents who donated over 65 artworks to Whitworth University, creating Whitworth's art collection and providing the core of its Pacific Northwest collection.

The Carlson Commemoration will include multiple events from fall 2024-fall 2025 (dates and information will be made available nearer the time):

  • Carlson Family Pacific Northwest Art Exhibition in Whitworth's Bryan Oliver Gallery, Sept. 10-Oct. 25, 2024.
    • Opening reception and program including a panel on collecting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 5-7 p.m.
  • Student Movie Night: The Herb and Dorothy Netflix special on collecting
  • Student Holiday Art Swap
  • Carlson Native American Art Collection Gallery Exhibition in Whitworth's Bryan Oliver Gallery, Feb. 4-March 21, 2025
  • Indigenous Artist Residency, fall 2025*
