Whitworth University's accounting certificate is designed for interested students to sit for the CPA exam in the state of Washington. Candidates must complete a minimum of 120 semester hours to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam. Whitworth's accounting certificate provides 24 semester accounting credits, the equivalent of an accounting concentration, that when combined with a B.A. that includes 24 semester (36 quarter) hours in business administration subjects may lead to students being eligible to sit for the CPA exam in Washington. To become a licensed CPA, 150 total semester credits are required, along with mandatory work experience. The accounting certificate alone does not meet the educational requirements for licensure in any state.
