Named one of Josten's National Educator Hall of Fame Inductees; received the 2010 Phi Delta Kappa Distinguished Educator Award; received the Anti-Defamation League Award for Promoting Respect and Tolerance; received the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award in 1997.
