Farewell...
Farewell...
At graduation, four international students of the Class of 1956 are prepared their education of the mind and heart to continue to impact the lives of those around them just as they had at Whitworth College. Though few in number, their presence was visiblely seen through their active involvement in school clubs and activities. Yet, what adventures they may have actually encountered may be lost to history. Yet, Chutikul has left a successful and impressive legacy. Following graduation she received her M.S. in Educational Administration and her Ed.D in Educational Psychology Guidance both from Indiana University. She then returned to Thailand to teach at a Christian school, occasionally coming back to Spokane to perform at concerts for the community. Over the past 15 years, she has participated actively in the government serving, currently as a senator in the Thai Parliament, fighting for the rights of women and children against prostitution and sweat shop labor that is prevalent in Thailand. Respect for Chutikul has risen both in her home country and abroad as a defender of justice, advocating for the rights of the women and children in venues around the world, most notably the United Nations. Chutikul is a proud product of the Whitworth educational system and the Class of 1956. Certainly the lives of Chutikul and the all the other students contributed to the strengthening of the Cosmopolitan Club and sustained its continual influence in sharing with the Whitworth Community the richness of our world’s diversity.
