2009: A Less-than-Inspiring Close Whitworth Football was described by the Natsihi in 2009 as "something short of perfect." The team finished the season 5-5 and failed to make the playoffs. The season was tough at the beginning with a loss to Texas’ Hardin Simmons University, but the Bucs would bounce back later, winning their last two games against PLU and Lewis and Clark to close the last season of the decade.
