Who Was Seeley G. Mudd?
Money for the Chapel was provided by the Seeley G. Mudd Fund. Money for the fund was provided by the will of the deceased Dr. Mudd in 1968 in which Dr. Mudd set aside over $44 million for universities. In his lifetime, Dr. Mudd was the Dean of the University of Southern California and donated money to universities for buildings and scholarships. His legacy lived on through his will and Whitworth was honored to receive the 25th donation from the Seeley G. Mudd Fund.
