A Message of Hope
President Lindaman was the featured presenter at Expo ’74’s final symposium, “Creating the Future: Agendas for Tomorrow.” Lindaman had an optimistic view of the fair’s environmental message, saying, “Washington has a unique potential. The state is still an ‘Eden.’ Washington has not made all the environmental mistakes others have made. Here there is still time to make midcourse corrections… No one can begin to solve the world’s problems at a world level. We can only start where we are. Where we are now is Spokane. And Spokane is moving. The rapport we have with each other here will be our strength, and the models we have seen at this symposium will be our vision."
