Building Character
Krebbs and Pritchett both hoped this trip would teach the students about responsibility. “We’ve been concerned for a long time with the stuff the students were made of. They’ve been so protected throughout their lives; they’ve not had to make any significant decisions on their own. Fundamental decisions have been made by their parents. They’ve been protected all their lives – by parents, money in the bank and policemen. We also wanted to see what values they would place on food, clothing, shelter, safety and if they had a philosophy of life,” said Krebbs.
