Early Whitworth Theatre: Ralph Roister Doister
Early Whitworth Theatre: Ralph Roister Doister
Whitworth plays during its earliest days, and indeed over the course of most of the early twentieth century, were usually conservative in nature, with the works of William Shakespeare and other traditional British and American authors being the norm. Here we have a pamphlet dating to 1915, the first full school year at the Spokane campus, in which the Renaissance comedy “Ralph Roister Doister” is being performed. As the college began lifting itself off the ground, with strong attendance and enthusiasm following the move to Spokane, fewer advertisements were needed, with the pamphlet shown being devoid of any.
