Choral Beginnings
Choral Beginnings
Although the college did not have a choir when it was originally chartered, student vocal groups were nevertheless active throughout the campus. In 1902, a Board of Trustees report mentions a glee club consisting of forty-five student voices. The Philomel Club was another popular group to join. An article in the Whitworthian from October of 1926 mentions that a new group called the Whitworth Church Choir held it’s first rehearsal at McMillan Hall under the direction of Lewis Randall.
