On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed the Pearl Harbor military base in Hawaii. For Japanese Americans, the news of the bombing unleashed acts of discrimination and prejudice that would continue through World War II.
The purpose of this on-line exhibit is to provide visual images to accompany the audio documentary "From Coast and Camp to the Inland Empire," which documents the experiences of Japanese Americans who evacuated and relocated to Eastern Washington from the West Coast during World War II. It is the intention of this project to educate students and the community about historical violations of civil rights, in order to ensure that similar civil rights violations will be prevented in the future.
