Anticipated Graduation Year: 2012
Major: Journalism & Mass Communication
Hometown: La Cañada, Calif.
Whitworth activities/clubs: Associated Students of Whitworth University, Whitworth.FM, The Whitworthian
Favorite book: Time Machine by H.G. Wells
Favorite movie: It's a Wonderful Life and Felon
Favorite quote: "Good night and good luck." – Edward R. Morrow
Favorite off-campus study program experience: For Article & Feature writing, my professor created this project where I could choose to stay with a Hmong family or a Russian family and write an article about it. I chose to stay with a Russian family in Spokane and learn about their life as immigrants and first generation Americans.
Favorite professor: I couldn't narrow it down to just one professor. Each professor I got to know either through class, or just around campus have shaped my college experience whether it was positive or negative.
Best class: I wasn't involved in a sport but my favorite class ended up being sports conditioning, which I took to physically challenge myself.
Research/special projects I'm involved in: In preparation for graduate school, I am currently writing and shooting a short film to submit along with my applications to each school.
Advice for incoming students: Persistence and focus is key. Procrastination is your enemy.
What I plan to do after graduation: After graduation I plan to pursue a master's degree in film in Southern California and find applicable work. To put myself through the particular masters program I'll find work either as security or a bartender. Security and bartending are jobs that I've done through my whole college career.
