Biography: Jerry Deck
Jerry Deck is the executive director of Presbyterian Global Fellowship.
Deck received his B.A. in communications from Lee University, Cleveland, Tenn., and his M.A. in religion in American life from Wheaton College, Ill., before joining World Relief to help with refugee resettlement.
While at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he earned his M.Div., Deck was deeply influenced by Darrell Guder, a former vice president for academic affairs and provost at Whitworth. During his years at Princeton, Deck was awarded a parish-pulpit fellowship to study in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He co-hosted the 2009 PGF Regional Gathering in the Chicago area, and he co-led the Presbyterian Global Fellowship Missional Small Church Pastors webinars.
Deck was raised in the Pentecostal tradition. He sensed God's call to ministry in the Presbyterian Church while interning in West Virginia the summer after his first year of seminary. He was attracted to Reformed theology, to being able to approach faith thoughtfully, and to the importance of elders leading with a pastor.
Deck and his wife, Megan, are the parents of two little girls: Shauny, 3, and Adelie, 1. |
