Required Operating Systems for Windows:
Required Operating System for Mac/Apple:
Wireless connections will be available to students in residence-hall common rooms and in various locations around campus using the WhitStudent wireless network. Wireless routers and access points are prohibited in all residence-hall rooms and on the Whitworth University network. We do not guarantee wireless coverage in residence-hall rooms (all rooms have Ethernet plug-in ports available for network access); however, wireless access is available in all student lounges and in most study rooms. Any student found to be using a personal wireless access point in his/her room will have his/her network port shut down indefinitely. Click here for instructions on connecting to the WhitStudent network. Click here for additional help desk documentation.
Whitworth no longer provides antivirus software for student use, but students are still required to have an antivirus program installed on their system in order to gain access to the network. The following list of antiivirus programs will be supported:
Authentium, Avast, AVG, AVGuard / Avira, Bitdefender, CA / EZ Antivirus, Kaspersky, McAfee / McAfee EPO, Microsoft OneCare / Forefront Security, Nod32, Panda, Sophos, Symantec Corp, Symantec, SpySweeper AntiVirus, TrendMicro Corp, TrendMicro, ZoneAlarm
Whitworth no longer uses Cisco Clean Access:
The university is using a new product, Safe Connect. Instructions will be available to students when they arrive on campus. If you are a returning student, we recommend you uninstall the Cisco Clean Access program. For a Windows system, you will find an uninstall program under All Programs\Cisco Systems\Cisco Clean Access\Uninstall Clean Access Agent.
