Update from the Provost & Executive Vice President Search Committee
Nov. 20, 2012
The provost/executive vice president search committee met again on Friday, Nov. 16, to discuss its progress thus far. The committee is pleased to report that the far-reaching efforts to publicize and promote the opening are garnering significant attention from academic leaders around the country. The committee is still receiving applications and will do so until the position is filled, but the committee plans to begin narrowing the field of candidates in early December. Committee members will then spend the month of December exploring more deeply specific candidate qualifications and speaking with references before inviting a handful of candidates to off-site and confidential interviews in early January. Then in mid-February, we will host the finalists on campus for meetings with students, faculty and staff (followed by the opportunity for campus feedback).
The committee members also want to thank you for the input so many of you have provided. We spent much of our meeting reviewing and discussing the opportunities, challenges, and desired qualifications you forwarded, and that input has helped the committee considerably as it begins to frame the ideal characteristics and experiences of the successful candidate.
Please continue to pray for the search process, for each of the committee members, and for our applicants. Also, please forward any nominations to Tom Williamson at Academic Search (firstname.lastname@example.org), or to the two of us. Thank you for your continued support of this important process.
Beck A. Taylor, University President
