Scholarships available through Whitworth:

  • Mary Jane Maxwell Student Travel Endowment
For history or political studies department study programs, Core 250 abroad, or study programs in which a faculty member from the history/political studies department participates. The applicant must be a full-time student with a declared major in history or political studies, must demonstrate financial need, and must not have received the award in prior years. The amount of the scholarship will vary.

Application process: Contact history or political science department.

  • Pierrette Christianne Lovrien France Study Program
Awarded every three years when there is a Whitworth France Study Program. 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA. Financial need will be considered, but is not required.

Application process: Complete the application available from Whitworth's World Languages & Cultures Department; submit a written recommendation from a faculty member not associated with the France Study Program.

  • Ruth E. Baird Travel Scholarship
Ruth Baird loved to travel, so her children established this scholarship in her name to provide scholarship funds to a philosophy student with no significant travel experience to participate in a Whitworth study program. Students in their junior or senior year with a philosophy major or minor will be given first priority for this scholarship. If no philosophy student meets the criteria, the award can be made to a deserving student from another department.

Application Process: Contact the philosophy department for an application and deadline information.
